Mouse on the run!!!!!!!
This is the thrid time I am trying to post something - and damn it - nothing is cooperating! I am trying to listen to music with my computer - and the damn thing plays one song - then stops - I have to close down - start up - turn on - it'll play one song again - then it'll stop....and on and on it goes! Computers hate me and I hate them! Kinda like people - I don't like them much either....so I have started to work at a pet shop on Fridays, and week-ends. I have never worked in retail before - so this was like being thrown to the wolves.......literally! Who knew a mother rat gets upset when you try to remove her from her babies!? You would think someone would have told me! Or that a rabbit can actually jump out of it's cage - even when the hatch is at the top of the cage!? Well - we also sell "feeder mice" - these are mice that people buy to feed to their snakes or what ever. We sell them alive or dead. I have issues selling these poor creatures - but I seem to have more of a problem selling the frozen dead ones. They make a really horrible "ka-thunk" when you put them down on the cash area (they are in a bag!). Anyways - this lady came in and bought a live feeder mouse - and off she went. Well instead of going home to feed her "what ever mouse eating pet" she had - she decided to go to the Food Court and eat and visit a while. Welll - so did the mouse! Now these mice are really small and have pink feet and pink noses - so they aren't like the field mice that will give you ebola or hanta virus or what ever it is that they give you! Anyways - we get a call in the shop from the Mall Security that one of our "creatures" was loose in the Food Court. I asked him (after he told me it was a mouse) if he saw the mouse, he said no. Then I asked if is knew where the mouse went or where the mouse was at this moment. He said no. I asked if he had EVER seen the mouse - he said no. So I asked how he knew there was one of our mice loose in the Food Court. He said the lady showed him the box as well as the plastic bag that this thing had eaten through. Well - We supposedly have traps set up around the mall - in case some dolt (like this person) lets a creature loose, so if he found it in the trap - just throw it away. Then the lady had to come back - all embarrassed - wanting to buy another mouse - a live one. I asked her if she would rather buy a frozen dead one cause if there was a chance she still wanted to do some shopping - there was less of a chance that a dead mouse would eat it's way out of a box and/or bag! I forgot - retail should be customer friendly - and I am the WORST person in the world of great customer service................she did not see the humour in that................oh well - still giggling-Diz
